I will arrive early and start by taking pictures of the venue while I wait on your arrival. When you arrive, I will collect all your details such as bride’s wedding dress, jewelry, shoes, invitations, flowers and other details that are important to the bride. For the groom it could be suspenders, bow tie, shoes, watch and other details that are important to the groom.

Thank you so much for your interest in booking with me. In this page I will give you all the information you need for booking me as your wedding photographer for Rose Hall and the process. Hopefully I answer most of your questions, and if there's anything that I didn't mention, don't hesitate to ask.

Hi I'm Johanna!

Right before I’m done with the details, I’ll have the bride put her dress on. When I come back into the bridal suite, I will photograph the bride with the person she chooses to help her button or tie her dress. She can also put on her shoes, jewelry and a veil if she has one. I will also take pictures of the bride by herself in the bridal suite.

Below is a list of how I normally photograph a wedding day. You can make changes to the timeline to fit your wedding day. I will also be taking candid moments all throughout the day as I see them happening.

After the getting ready pictures of the bride, we will go outside and I will take pictures of the bride by herself. Then I will take pictures of the bride with the bridesmaids. If any family is present at the time I will take pictures with the bride and the family that is present.

Before taking pictures of the groom, I will have him get dressed, but wait to put on his jacket and shoes for the getting ready pictures. I will photograph his getting ready pictures with the person he chooses to help him.

After the getting ready pictures of the groom, we will go outside and I will take pictures of the groom by himself. Then I will take pictures of the groom with the groomsmen. If any family is present at the time I will take pictures with the groom and the family that is present.

A first look is not for everyone, but before you make that final decision, it’s important to know more about the benefits of a first look so you can make the best decision for your wedding day. You don’t have to make the final decision till around 6 weeks before the wedding. Take some time to talk to your fiancé about it and make a decision together based on what matters to you the most. These are the reasons why I recommend a first look.

Wether you have a first look or no first look, I will stop portrait pictures 30 minutes minimum before the ceremony. At this time guests are usually starting to arrive, so I will have the bride and groom go hide and relax.
The reception details are usually set up and ready, so I’ll photograph the details of the table decorations, cake, and any other details that you chose for display.

When I photograph the ceremony, I will get everyone walking down the aisle. When the bride comes out, my main focus is on the groom’s reaction but the bride as well. Once the bride and groom are at the altar, I will take pictures of the people in the front rows which are usually parents, and then I’ll go to the back to capture a pulled back shot of the ceremony. I will move in close again but out of the way and stay there to capture the rest. If you add a second shooter, they will capture different angles and focus only on the groom while the bride walks down the aisle and I will focus on capturing the bride.

I photograph the full bridal party portraits with the groomsmen and the bridesmaids all together right after the ceremony. I will take traditional pictures and fun ones as well.

I will photograph the family formal pictures per list. About one month before the wedding I’ll ask for a list of groupings and family names so I can make sure I capture all the pictures you want. Calling out people by name also gets their attention faster.

This are the pictures of the bride and groom as newlyweds. If they had a first look, the time for this portraits will only last ten minutes or less. If they didn’t have a first look, the bride and groom portraits will last about 20 minutes. Rose Hall doesn’t have a full cocktail hour, so the portrait time after the ceremony is about 40 minutes total unless the ceremony is very short, giving us a little extra time.

I follow the timeline that Rose Hall gives me for the reception. The reception pictures are mostly candid moments and I’ll constantly be capturing what’s happening. I also go around tables and capture pictures of your guests.

I will be capturing every moment from the beginning of the day to your exit! Before the exit, I will remind the bride and groom to take the time to really enjoy their exit! No need to run out, but take in the moment and even share one last kiss! This will also make for better pictures.

I wish I had words to describe how truly amazing Johanna is. From our engagement photos to our wedding, you were truly my favorite part about wedding planning. You made it so seamless, and easy. I'm so head over heels over our pictures, I even show them to strangers. For anyone looking for a photographer, she's your woman. She has excellent communication, amazing styling advice, wonderful pictures, super professional, and delivers everything in such a quick timeline. I honestly couldn't imagine having anyone else photograph or big day. Thank you so much!

“YOU WERE TRULY MY FAVORITE PART ABOUT WEDDING PLANNING!”

Johanna does an absolutely amazing job! She did both our engagement photos and wedding photos for us, and she made us feel so comfortable the whole time. She has a great eye for what looks good, but she’s flexible to take whatever extra or silly photos you want / need. She is incredibly sweet and flexible. She worked with us to figure out the best plan for the day. She even worked with both myself and my husband, separately, to prank each other as our wedding was on April Fool’s Day! I would 100% recommend Johanna and I will be calling her the next time I need a photographer.

“We are so lucky to have such an amazing photographer on our wedding day”

Fall can have really nice days outside or it can have very cold gloomy days. Plan for the cold by getting cold-weather accessories such as a fur jacket, thermal socks and leggings. It also gets dark faster outside during the fall and there is more gloomy days causing us to loose natural light for pictures. Plan your ceremony time at least 2 hours before sunset.

Fall Weddings

Summer weddings are so beautiful with everything in bloom, but the heat and humidity can get intense. Set your ceremony time the latest possible but no less than 1 1/2 hours before sunset so we can still have plenty of natural light for pictures. Drink lots of water starting the day before and as much as you can the morning of the wedding day to avoid dehydration. Also mosquito repellant is always a good idea.

Summer Weddings

In March, not much will be in bloom but there will still be plenty of nature and it will still be beautiful! By mid April there will be a lot more greenery, and at the end of April the roses will start to bloom. Spring brings some really nice weather but it can also be very cool at times or have some hotter days.

What packages do you
offer?

What is my editing
style?

I average 75-100 final images per hour that I am actively shooting throughout the day. This estimate is normally on the lower side since I tend to be an over-shooter. You will have the ability to print, share and download your images as much as you want. I believe in freely sharing my work because that is what I would want if I were in your shoes!

How many images can I expect to receive?

Yes! Engagement session is an opportunity for me to empower you to feel confident in front of the camera. It also gives us a chance to connect so when it comes time to your wedding day and capturing some of your most intimate moments of your life, you can feel more comfortable and relaxed because we already know each other better. And ladies, I also offer boudoir sessions in my studio which make a great wedding gift for your soon to be husband!

Do you offer engagement
sessions?

You will receive your images within 2-3 weeks after the wedding through an online gallery where you can easily download your images high resolution and share them with friends and family. You will have full access to your gallery for 1 year. You will also get some sneak peeks 2-3 days after your wedding.

When will I receive all
my images?

I recommend the ceremony to be set 2 hours before sunset. That will give us softer light in the afternoon for pictures. If you set your ceremony time only one hour before sunset, it will be darker outside for your pictures afterwards and if it's a cloudy day, even more so. In the summer months it does get dark late, so if you want an earlier ceremony you can also do 3 hours before sunset.

What time should we schedule our ceremony to begin?
